When Hydro Jetting Makes Sense
The short answer
Hydro jetting makes sense when a line keeps stopping up because of buildup on the pipe walls, such as roots, sludge or grease, rather than a single blockage. A camera inspection shows whether jetting fits the line, or whether cabling, descaling or a repair is the better call.
What hydro jetting does
Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water and specialized nozzles to scour buildup off the inside of the pipe, as close to the pipe wall as conditions allow. We use a camera during the work to target the cleaning and to evaluate the pipe and the results.
Signs jetting may be the right tool
- The main line has been cabled before and stopped up again.
- A camera shows roots, sludge or grease coating the pipe.
- A kitchen line keeps slowing from grease.
When something else fits better
- A single, simple stoppage is often cleared by cabling the main line.
- Heavy scale inside old cast iron calls for descaling with a carbide chain.
- Breaks, bellies or significant offsets need a repair. Cleaning alone won't stop them from collecting debris.
Results and warranty
Jetting is meant to remove debris, buildup and root masses and restore as much usable flow as reasonably possible. Results depend on the condition of the existing pipe, and complete removal isn't promised. A one-year clog-free warranty is available only when the cleaned line qualifies.
