Zoeller is our preferred sump-pump brand. A standard replacement swaps the pump and check valve in an accessible basement sump, reconnects it to the existing discharge, and tests it. Battery backups, radon systems, sealed lids and access issues add scope.
What a standard replacement includes
Our published starting price is for a standard 1/3-hp sump pump in a typical accessible basement sump, and it covers:
- Removing the accessible lid and disconnecting power and the old pump.
- Replacing the sump pump and the check valve.
- Reconnecting to the existing discharge, plugging in, testing operation and replacing the lid.
What changes the job
- A battery-backup system.
- A radon system that has to be disconnected and reconnected.
- A screwed or sealed lid.
- Drywall, a confined space or other access issues.
- Changes to the discharge line.
Before heavy rain
Heavy rain and flooding are when sump pumps get tested. Pour water into the pit now and then to make sure the pump switches on and empties it.
